The journey to becoming a Carrier dealer & committing to excellence

When Larry Ernst, a small-town Iowa farm boy, initiated Intermountain Heating & Air Conditioning Inc., the business primarily focused on providing furnace and air conditioner services. Soon after adopting the new name, Larry discovered Carrier products and quickly fell in love with the quality and reliability that Carrier offered. Despite Carrier not being initially available for purchase in Idaho, Larry was undeterred and personally drove to Utah to secure Carrier equipment. His commitment to offering the best for his customers was unwavering, recognizing that Carrier excelled in both furnace and air conditioner solutions.

Upon Carrier's introduction of products in Idaho, Larry was the first in line to become a Factory Authorized Dealer (FAD), solidifying the business's expertise in HVAC service and replacement. Over 33 years, Larry dedicated himself to serving the Magic Valley and surrounding areas. His work ethic, love of people, and giant heart were widely known amongst his customers and those who knew him.

New beginnings

We lost our beloved founder in August 2019. We miss his infectious laugh and spontaneous sense of humor. Larry’s spirit will forever live amongst the employees of Intermountain Heating & Air. Before passing away, Larry asked his long-time friend and general manager Kosta to take over the company.

In April of 2020, Intermountain Heating & Air Conditioning was purchased by Kosta and his family. As a family and veteran-owned business, we aim to continue based on the principles Larry championed while working to make it easier for our customers to connect with us online.

Kosta came from a communist country with $42 in his pocket and three words of English in his vocabulary. What Kosta did have, was an eager spirit and a hard-working attitude. That attitude resulted in Kosta becoming a lifer at IMHVAC, eventually purchasing it after Larry’s passing. Kosta wanted to see Larry’s dream live on. So to this day, we hold onto Larry’s vision, rooting for the underdog, creating amazing employee and customer experiences, and constantly on the lookout for new ways to grow.

That’s why, for the first time ever in the company’s history, we are taking massive steps to increase the benefits offered to our employees, including extremely competitive wages, full health and dental insurance, and even tuition reimbursement. We support those who support us. And right now is the best time to join if you want to be a part of the growth and set yourself up for a future position in leadership.

Our Team

  • General Manager/Owner

    Kosta

    General Manager/Owner

Our fearless leader and Larry's long-time friend and general manager. Boy, do we have Kosta and Larry stories. Those two were quite a team together. Larry knew that Kosta had the knowledge and experience to diagnose and repair any job. Kosta's experience in the industry and relationship with Larry made him the perfect candidate to continue his legacy at Intermountain Heating & Air Conditioning.

  • Carl

    Service Technician

Carl is our part time service guy with all the knowledge. He has been in the industry over 30 years and has all the knowledge. He is usually out on the job most of the time but we sure love love his spunky personality and jokes when he is at the office.

  • Teresa

    Office Manager

Our trusted office manager started as a seasonal, part-time employee and quickly became an incredible part of our family. Larry hired Teresa full-time after a couple of months, and we could not be happier for that decision. We value her time, dedication, and knowledge and are thankful she chose to stay on full time. She is the friendly voice behind he phone and will quickly become your friend.

  • Jessie

    Retro Manager

What can we say about this guy. He can also do just about anything. He’s a master at retros, great at service and friend to everyone. We sure are thankful he decided to join our team all the way from Nevada.

    New Construction Manager

Scott brings a wealth of experience to new construction, showcasing unparalleled expertise and meticulous attention to detail. As a United States Army veteran, we express our gratitude for his choice to join our team.

  • JD

This young man is a hard working team member who has quickly become a valuable member of our Intermountain Heating & Air Conditioning family.

  • Silvanna

    Marketing/Owner

Kosta asked his daughter Silvanna and son-in-law, John, to purchase Intermountain Heating & Air conditioning. He knew that while he had experience in HVAC, he needed 'young blood,' as he put it, to help him navigate change management and technological advantages.

Silvanna is our marketing / social medial professional. While her experience lies largely in social media and Industrial/Organizational Psychology, she enjoys her new role in marketing.

  • John

    Owner/ Advisor

John is our 'behind the scenes advisor.' He is a retired United States Air Force veteran. After spending 20 years in the US Air Force, John began working for a tech company remotely and joined the ranks of IMH as part owner. He is the behind-the-scenes team member, a valuable advisor, problem solver, and an overall 'ideas guy.' He is Kosta's son-in-law and Silvanna's husband.

Awards

The Russell Sigler Award for Sales Excellence

This is an annual award instituted in honor of Russell Sigler, the founder, and CEO of Sigler Wholesale Distributing. The award was established to recognize the core virtues that epitomizes Russ’s career; outstanding sales achievement and loyalty to his customers and vendors, which are present in Sigler Factory Authorized Dealers.

The winners of the award are determined based on scoring on a 100-point scale, with points awarded for sales growth (percentage increase over the last two years’ average purchases) in three categories; (Total Sales, Parts, and Supplies), loyalty to the brand, and longevity as a Carrier dealer. Additional points are earned by winning Carrier’s President’s Award. All Factory Authorized Dealers who achieve a pre-determined score level that ranks them in the upper 25% of all Sigler Factory Authorized Dealers are winners of that year’s award.
